Messe Frankfurt purchases congress centre in Frankfurt's Europaviertel district

The deal for the purchase and operation of the congress centre in Frankfurt's Europaviertel district has been sealed. Messe Frankfurt will be the owner and operator of the building at the Skyline Plaza complex. Representatives of Messe Frankfurt GmbH, CA Immo Deutschland GmbH and project development company ECE signed the necessary contracts at a notary's office. "The new congress centre marks an important expansion of Messe Frankfurt's range in this event segment. Existing space has been booked up and we are now tapping into additional customer segments for one of our core activities in the high-growth congress and convention sector. The events that will take place in the new building, in addition to the conventions and conferences held at the Congress Center on our exhibition grounds, represent yet another example of Messe Frankfurt's growth-oriented approach," says Wolfgang Marzin, President and CEO of Messe Frankfurt. Bernhard H. Hansen, CEO of CA Immo Deutschland GmbH emphasises: "The realisation of the congress centre not only means delivering on our commitment laid out in the municipal development contract, which we are delighted to do, we are also creating another highlight in Europaviertel by pairing it with the Skyline Plaza shopping centre. Today Europaviertel's many hotels, pioneering office buildings and high-calibre apartments already make the area synonymous with international diversity, sustainability and growth. The congress centre is another clear step in this direction."

Jens Hintze, ECE Project Manager, adds: "The congress centre is an ideal addition to Skyline Plaza. It attracts additional customers to the shopping centre while also offering a very attractive environment for congress participants. We are delighted that Messe Frankfurt, with its long-standing experience in the congress business, is assuming responsibility for the building and its operation." "It certainly was no easy task that all the parties embarked on. A good outcome was reached for everyone in the end that balanced all interests and business objectives well," says Uwe Behm, Member of the Executive Board of Messe Frankfurt.
The congress centre is to be completed by autumn 2013 at the same time as the neighbouring shopping centre, Skyline Plaza. It will offer halls of different capacities across three floors and a mezzanine level. The plans were coordinated between Messe Frankfurt and joint venture partners ECE and CA Immo and implemented by the ECE architects. To complement the Congress Center on the exhibition grounds, event organisers will also have access to spaces to accommodate 100 or 150 people in the new congress centre, meaning that more smaller rooms will be available, as well as spaces that can be partitioned. The building will also meet strict sustainability standards; DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council) certification is being sought.

The Metropolitan Region of Frankfurt Rhine-Main will be jointly represented at the ICCA World Congress in Leipzig

Many players in the industry know the Metropolitan Region of Frankfurt Rhine-Main as the host of the annual IMEX exhibition. Moreover, Frankfurt International Airport is the entry point for many visitors to the 50th ICCA World Congress in Leipzig. From 22 to 26 October the trade fair city of Leipzig, which is situated in the German state of Saxony, will attract some 1,200 congress professionals from over 80 countries to discuss the future of the MICE industry.

The vibrant metropolitan region Frankfurt Rhine-Main offers convenient traffic and transport facilities as well as historical significance, enormous economic strength and a diversified higher education landscape and academic scene. The cities of Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, Mainz and Darmstadt, are only just over 40 km apart. All of them have professional congress centres that fully satisfy their clients’ needs: The Congress Center Messe Frankfurt, the Rhein-Main-Hallen and the Kurhaus Wiesbaden, the Congress Centrum Mainz and the Darmstadt Science and Congress Centre.

On 25 October 2011 all five congress centres will be giving a joint lunch at the ICCA World Congress – an opportunity for delegates to receive further information about the metropolitan region while combining business and pleasure. The congress centres of the Frankfurt Rhine-Main Region are all situated at the heart of Germany’s biggest and most popular wine-growing area, between the Rhine and the Main, and the event will therefore be supported by “Generation Riesling”, an association of ambitious young wine growers. all five congress centres will be giving a joint lunch at the ICCA World Congress – an opportunity for delegates to receive further information about the metropolitan region while combining business and pleasure. Frankfurter Congress ambassadors receive certificates of appointment in the Römer

City councillor Markus Frank yesterday presented certificates of appointment to the first four Frankfurter Congress ambassadors. The initiative “Frankfurter Congress Ambassador” was launched by the Frankfurt am Main Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Tourismus+Congress GmbH Frankfurt am Main (TCF), Congress Frankfurt/Messe Frankfurt Venue GmbH as well as Frankfurt’s hotel industry. The aim of the initiative is to strengthen the positioning of the Main metropolis Frankfurt as a congress and conference destination and make the city more popular as an event venue. With the multiplier role of the Frankfurter Congress ambassadors in their respective sectors, companies and associations, it is hoped that more event organisers will choose Frankfurt as a location. The ambassadors were selected by a committee of initiative partners.

The following were appointed as Frankfurter Congress ambassadors for the duration of two years:

Claus Fischer, Managing Director of Voss & Fischer GmbH and board member of the ADC.

Dr. Stephan Vogel, Managing Director of Ogilvy & Mather Frankfurt and board member of the ADC.

Both helped organise the ADC Festival 2010-2012 in Frankfurt and participated considerably in the official tendering process.

Prof. Dr. med. Manfred Kaufmann, Director of the Clinic for Gynaecology and Obstetrics at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Clinic. It is thanks to his dedication that the Congress of Gynaecology and Obstetrics has been held in the Congress Centre of Messe Frankfurt for many years.

Prof. Dr. Ulf Müller-Ladner, Director of the Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology Department at the Kerckhoff Clinic in Bad Nauheim. His initiative and contacts have led to Frankfurt being one of the candidates for the European Rheumatologists’ Congress from 2017.

Congress Frankfurt organises 42nd International TCM Congress Rothenburg o.d.Tauber

The 42nd International TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) Congress was held with more than 1,200 participants from 29 countries from 31.05. to 05.06.2011 in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. During the six days of the congress, participants were able to inform themselves on subjects including pain treatment, dermatology and depression in more than 130 courses.

The programme was held in the Wildbad Congress Centre and four further venues in the city centre. The project team at Congress Frankfurt coped well with this geographic, organisational as well as sporting challenge – as there were up to 200 steps between some venues. In an exceptional cooperation between the AGTCM and Messe Frankfurt, Congress Frankfurt assumed the organisational project management for the entire congress.
